Water Lilies

In his last decades Monet painted his Giverny lily pond hundreds of times, dissolving water, sky and blossom into shimmering fields of colour. There is no horizon, only reflection — an immersive plunge toward abstraction. The grandest versions wrap right around their own rooms.
