Toulouse-Lautrec plunges us into the smoky nightlife of the Montmartre cabaret, with its performers, dandies and a face lit lurid green at the frame's edge. Steep angles and acid colour capture the artificial glamour of Paris after dark. He chronicled the demimonde as one of its own.
