Las Meninas

Velázquez paints himself at a giant canvas, surrounded by the young Infanta and her attendants, while the king and queen appear only as a reflection in a distant mirror. The result is a dizzying meditation on who is looking at whom. It is among the most analyzed paintings in all of Western art.
